140 Voices

140 Voices was updated daily by clients and residents of homeless charity, The Wallich, from 1st July 2011, and 'locked' to become our charity's Annual Review on the 31st August 2011. 100's of entries were narrowed down to 140 by a panel of staff and clients.
What you see here, now, is the result – 140 entries, 140 voices, 140 real life opinions about homelessness, by people who have actually experienced homelessness.

From humble beginnings, The Wallich has now grown from one hostel in Cardiff, to a multi-project charity offering the broad spectrum of homelessness services, from traditional outreach, to specialist accommodation, training, education, mediation, tenancy support and homelessness prevention.

Although we have grown in size, our ethos and value base remains the same.

We currently employ 250 people and have opened a number of new services in the past year. We have over 50 projects across 15 of Wales' 22 local authorities, supporting thousands of the most vulnerable people in our society and helping them to live safer, happier and more successful independent lives.

We are now looking forward to an organisational future, which, although by the sectors' very nature is always tinged with uncertainty in terms of funding and stability, is also exciting and promising.
